Matt Palmer

A conservation-focused landscape photographer, Matt is based in the alpine region of Victoria. Throughout his 20+ years in the Creative Industries Matt has almost photographed everything. His first solo exhibition Images Of Note showcased 10 years photographing the hundreds of performers such as Metallica, Pearl Jam, TOOL, Nick Cave and SIA. 8 Limbs, a documentary project on Muay Thai Fighters won him AIPP Australian Sports Photographer of the Year, and he has also worked in commercial and architectural photography and graphic design before running his own wedding and portrait photography business.

Today Matt’s projects are largely focused on the landscape and conservation issues, where he is an ambassador for Tasmania’s Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. His project ASH, documenting the damaging Tasmanian bushfires of 2019, helped him with AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year and Landscape Photographer of the Year for 2019.
